catching up, 8-16 zoo trip.

We went to the zoo with good friends Kara and her girls A and O.  It wasn't quite as hot as it had been but it was still bright and sunny and so we slathered on some sunscreen before leaving the car.

A holding Sarah.  (-:  Sarah loves both of Kara's girls.

Normally we don't have strollers for all the kids but O had just been sick recently so Kara brought the umbrella stroller for her just in case and I brought our double stroller for Sarah and Aaron, and then right after getting there a sore on Luke's ankle got the scab torn off so we figured we would go ahead and get another stroller that two kids could sit in.  The girls took turns sitting with Luke the whole way around the zoo.

We normally start with penguins and reptiles and work around the zoo that way but it usually means skipping some things at the other end of the zoo because by then everyone is tired, so this time we started with the chimps and then the Australian outback and South American exhibits before going on to the African areas.

I love the elephants!  I can hardly wait to see their new exhibit!

The red rocks reflected to make Aaron look especially pink!

The tigers is always our snack spot.  This time the only shaded spot that wasn't already taken was by the red pandas so we took it.  Since it is indoors and air conditioned and it has a water fountain and benches it is a perfect spot to stop for a bit and rest.

Sarah really loved sitting up in the stroller for the first time on this trip.  She wouldn't lean back at all and had a firm grip on the sides or on the back of the seat in front of her most of the time trying to see everything.  I almost would have put her in front but the back one had more shade and could lay back when she napped and Aaron wouldn't have fit as well back there.

They had an EMS team there with their ambulance and were letting kids see things and try them out.

Of course my boys love the reptile house so we had to see the tortoises before we left.
